"To Believe"

The picture is inspired by a christening in St. Stephen's Church in Nørrebro. I was completely fascinated by a married couple who were not part of the baptism guests, but who participated and I experienced a great and genuine empathy for the ecclesiastical action from them. Maybe it was just something I perceived, but I had to take a picture of them and used it later as a basis for this painting.

If you know St. Stephen's Basilica, you might recognize a little of the ceiling in the chancel.
