"Pigerne fra Søllerød"

The painting is directly inspired by a black and white photograph that I found in an old family album. The album was filled with pictures of people I don't know, but who I am somehow related to. Unfortunately, there is no one left to tell the stories of these lives.

The photo itself consists of three young women posing in front of Søllerød Kro. They look like they're for some kind of bachelorette party. They are nice in clothes and look happy, and their shoes are especially nice. The photo is not dated, but due to the short skirts, it may have been taken in the post-war period, but I'm not sure.
